Marie 500x500

Throughout a wide-ranging career in local and central government, the not-for-profit sector, academia, and private consulting Marie has developed a unique and multi-faceted understanding of the key challenges in environmental protection and the management of regulatory systems.

As director of Mātaki Environmental, Marie provides research, strategy and regulatory advice services to a range of clients. A common theme of her career is environmental compliance. Having held operational roles through to strategic and evaluative roles across New Zealand’s environmental legal landscape, Marie can offer a broad perspective on the barriers and ingredients for success.

Marie holds a Bachelor of Science, a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Management, a Masters in Environmental Legal Studies (all from the University of Auckland) and a PhD from the University of Waikato. Marie is the Director of Mātaki Environmental, a private consulting firm alongside holding a position as Adjunct Research Fellow at Te Herenga Waka, Victoria University of Wellington. When Marie is not working, she can usually be found in the ever-expanding gardens and orchard of the Masterton lifestyle block she shares with her young family; husband Aaron and two little daughters.
